Starting school with herbs
The beginning of the school year in September brings massive change for everyone: calm mornings and relaxing weekdays are over, at least for the children.
How can we prepare for this forthcoming period?
The following herbs can be consumed for both rehydration and remedial purposes:

Rosemary:
It has beneficial effect on brain vessels and memory, has no contraindications, and its tea can be consumed from the age of 6. Since its infusion does not color, and the aromatic character used as a spice does not return, feel free to flavor it with citrus fruits, dried fruit, or you can supplement it with other herbs, for example, elderberry, mint, rosehip.
A varied, very delicious juice can be made from it. I highly recommend its daily consumption, in case of low blood pressure for teens!
Mint:
We use this herb almost every day in toothpaste, tea and for flavoring, however only with caution, as people with cardiovascular problems should avoid its consumption! Its tea can be consumed from the age of 8, it is refreshing, raises blood pressure and heart rate.
Thyme:
It has an immune-strengthening, antibacterial and antiviral effect, it does not become bitter when soaked for a short time, you can combine it with other plants, for flavoring we can use honey and fruits as well.
Coneflower, or more commonly known as Echinacea:
Its disease-preventing effectiveness is medically proven, well-tried both externally and internally. I do not recommend consuming it every day for a longer period of time (6 weeks), it is adequate to consume it 1-2 times a week.
Flowers, crops:
Acacia flowers, elderflowers, lavender, violets, marigolds, rosehips and countless others are mainly consumed for flavouring and not for their therapeutic effect. Most of our edible flowering plants also color our drinks, we can extract the aromas by boiling or soaking them, they can be used to make excellent liquid substitutes, pleasantly aromatic drinks. Especially during afternoon workouts it feels good to consume them.
Ginger, cloves, cinnamon:
We can use our plants from Asia as decoctions, all of them protect our immune system and they are really effective against coughs and upper respiratory diseases. They have a very aromatic taste, so we should only start with a small amount for children, if they like it, we can increase it. We can combine them well with the plants listed above.
My tea offer for a week
Suggested use: 1 mocha spoon mixture for 2.5 dl of boiling water, let it stand for 4-5 minutes, then filter it, and your tea is ready to drink right away.
- Monday: thyme tea with acacia flowers
- Tuesday: Echinacea tea with rosehips
- Wednesday: rosemary tea with dried cherries
- Thursday: mint tea - without flavoring, I like to drink it on its own, but we can add dried apples and plums
- Friday: marigold-ginger-rosehip tea
